Aric – Carpentry

posted in: Review | 0

Kalamazoo’s own Aric has come through with a release that will be sure keep you warm this winter. Conceptualized as an ode to learning a new skill, in this case carpentry, Aric takes us through the process of learning and becoming better with tracks such as “Veneer” and “Bedroom End Table”. The arrangements here are stripped down to DIY rock basics, but with an ambient sensibility and ear for small, sometimes quirky details. Aric’s vocals blend in perfectly with the rest of the pieces to form a coherent whole, much like one would expect when assembling, say, a table. If 2021 is your year to learn something new, this record may just inspire you to do that!”
