Hannah Sandoz – To Love and Loss!

posted in: Review | 0

“Leaves fall on my head

rain falls on my head

everything above me falls onto my head

(howling) my dog wrote this part he sang with me at my parents piano”

What a simple and beautiful way to start an album. The music, like the lyrics, are a pleasant mix of abstract and direct. The recording has a lo-fi warmth reminiscent of Free Cake for Every Creature. Hannah’s voice even shares some of the most pleasant qualities of Free Cake’s vocals. Most of these songs are centered around intimate vocals, guitar, and reverb. It’s always wonderful to experience the sound of someone presenting their unique and personal voice, and Hannah Sandoz is doing wonderfully. Check this out, and catch Hannah playing a show around the Chicago area.
