Katie Bejsiuk – The Woman on the Moon

“taffeta sky

tears in your eyes

it’s the least romantic night of your life

if you leapt would you land on a trampoline

burn everything burn everything”

This has been my album of the summer, and it’s been a pleasant summer. I absolutely adored Katie’s music that was released as Free Cake for Every Creature, and was pretty overwhelmed with getting to experience their calming voice and music again. There is a quiet peacefulness that runs through this musical representation of Katie. The sounds are hushed, the lyrics introspective, sometimes direct, sometimes vague. The recording has a minimal simplicity, the tone of the guitar, the repeating of melodies, the layering, everything sounds just right. This album has paired well with a cup of tea or a nice hike.
