Sophia Lucia – Self Titled

posted in: Review, Uncategorized | 0

This album feels like a conversation, as if Sophia is talking and singing directly to the listener, with a little guitar mixed in too. All ten tracks give off an intimate vibe, sometimes silly, sometimes serious. The vocals range from spoken to sung to little squeaks and rages. Lyrically the topics range from mundane to absurd, from abstract to tupperware. This sound is uniquely Sophia’s, you can hear aspects of cabaret, punk, folk, and singer-songwriter story telling. It all blends together in a natural way. Sophia Lucia is based out of France and Chicago, for Chicago area folks, definitely worth catching a show when you can.
